Tournaments, whether rated or unrated are an opportunity for girl students to apply their knowledge and problem solving skills acquired from chess class. Tournaments are a powerful equalizer. Tournaments cross economic, race and more importantly gender barriers. Our goal is not to confine girls to an environment but to build their confidence, winning, using their intellectual ability, playing chess in a male dominated environment.
